To an Unknown Artist

It all started in front of the Gate of India. A boy, a family, a text (some words) that touched me.
Then, for two years, I tried to discover (?) an artist who cultivates silence. I'm still discovering Yaksh Verma.
Now, a proposal that finally materializes with his project of 25 rings to commemorate Reverso's 25th anniversary. The title? UNSPOKEN 1.
Finally, I see 25 small squares, small images of little figures, mostly geometric. An oriental rug embroidered in black and gold.
I am not allowed to see more for the next 24 hours. There is one more suspense. A doubt, and hesitation on the other side. Could we forget about the rings and opt for an installation? One big single piece instead of 25 small single pieces? No, I want the rings I was promised.
So, let's see them in real size: I see a house, walls, many walls, battlements, a castle? stairs, steps, and forms in unstable equilibrium on solid bases. Some, few, narrow grooves that open to the outside...
No need to say, I see in this work the little I know about Yaksh Verma. In honor of his most beloved poet, Mirza Ghalib, the rings' titles are taken from his poems. Beautiful, indecipherable words that I want to discover in a readable language.
But I know that in addition to being an artist, Yaksh Verma is a philosopher and a poet. And I thank him for the work and dedication he put not only into his big project but also into all the commemorative projects for Reverso. The suggestion of the title Beyond Borders is his, Reverso's maps are his, and our invitations for this year's exhibitions are his (also with the help of Barbora Lexová...)
In the end, Reverso won an artist, and, above all, I think I won a friend, which is no small feat.
Thank you, Yaksh.
